Eligibility Criteria

Is your Child eligible?

If you answer yes to all of the following questions, your child may be eligible for enrolment.

Question 1

Does your child have a formal diagnosis of autism referencing the DSM-5 from a paediatrician or psychiatrist?

Question 2

Can your child participate in school activities without the need for ongoing one to one support?

Question 3

Does your child demonstrate safe behaviour towards self and others?

Question 4

Can your child participate in a group setting?

Question 5

Is your child an Australian citizen or do they hold the appropriate visa?

PLEASE NOTE: This is a preliminary eligibility criteria check only and not a formal enrolment review. Meeting the eligibility criteria is not a guarantee of placement.

The Sycamore School acknowledges that there are different ways in which the community talks about autism – some use identity first or autism affirming language, ‘Autistic person’ and some use person first language, ‘person with autism’.  Here at The Sycamore School we believe that our young people should be celebrated for their strengths, that they are valued and empowered to be proud of the unique capabilities’ autism brings to their life.  The Sycamore School is using autism affirming language.
